Punarvasu Nakshatra
Punarvasu is the seventh nakshatra, from 20° of Mithuna to 3°20′ of Karka. When the Moon is here at birth, Punarvasu is your janma nakshatra. Its essence is return and renewal: the light coming back after the storm, and the good that comes home again.

Meaning of Punarvasu
Punar means again and vasu means good, wealth or light, so Punarvasu is “the return of the good”. Coming right after stormy Ardra, it is the clear sky after the rain. Its stars are Castor and Pollux in Gemini.
The ruling planet is Jupiter (Guru), the great teacher and the planet of hope, faith and growth. Three padas lie in Mercury’s Mithuna and the last one in Karka, where Jupiter is exalted.
Aditi and the bow with its quiver
The deity of Punarvasu is Aditi, the boundless mother of the gods and of the Adityas. Aditi stands for limitless space and unconditional care: a mother who gives freedom and shelter at the same time. Punarvasu people often carry this generous, forgiving nature.
The symbol is a bow and a quiver of arrows. An archer draws the arrow back before releasing it, and the quiver holds arrows that can be used again and again. It is fitting that Lord Rama, the great archer of dharma, was born in Punarvasu nakshatra, and that his story is one of exile followed by a happy return.
Nature and personality
Punarvasu natives are kind, optimistic and content with simple things. They are usually religious or philosophical, enjoy learning, and give good advice. Their Deva gana makes them forgiving and easy to get along with, and many love travel and the feeling of coming home after it.
They can be too trusting, or let opportunities slip because they are satisfied with little. Setting clear goals, and learning to say no sometimes, gives their goodness a firmer shape. Whatever setbacks come, Punarvasu people have a rare ability to start again with a smile.
The four padas of Punarvasu
Pada 1 (Mesha navamsa, in Mithuna): energetic and enterprising, quick to act on ideas.
Pada 2 (Vrishabha navamsa, in Mithuna): practical and earthy, building wealth and comfort with patience.
Pada 3 (Mithuna navamsa, in Mithuna): intellectual and talkative, strong in writing, teaching and trade.
Pada 4 (Karka navamsa, in Karka rashi): the most devoted pada, with Jupiter exalted in the navamsa; caring, spiritual and family-centred.
Career and money
Punarvasu suits teaching, counselling, writing, publishing, law, priesthood and religious work, travel and hospitality, and public service. Its generous nature also fits social work, NGOs and healing professions. Many Punarvasu people succeed in a second career or after a fresh start.
Money tends to come back to them even after losses. Steady, honest savings and avoiding lending without paperwork protect their trusting nature.
Love, marriage and remedies
In marriage Punarvasu is loyal, forgiving and devoted to family, and needs a partner who respects their values and freedom. It has cat yoni, at ease with another cat yoni and traditionally opposite to the rat. Its nadi is Vata (Aadi), so a partner of a different nadi is preferred, and its Deva gana blends well with Deva and Manushya partners.
For remedies, worship Lord Rama or Lord Vishnu, read the Ramayana or Ram Raksha Stotra, and chant “Om Adityai Namah” in honour of Aditi. Thursdays are good for prayer, feeding cows and giving yellow items like turmeric or chana dal. Yellow sapphire (pukhraj) is linked with Jupiter, but consult an experienced jyotishi before wearing any gemstone.
